Why Sweet Medicine?


  • To explore the corrosive consequences of defunding education (especially the humanities and social sciences) and cultural production in Nigeria during the 1980s Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs). 

  • To engage with Nigerian researchers and research projects tackling Africa’s unique 21st-century challenges. 

  • To identify and challenge obstacles to funding solutions and ideological shifts needed to foster a thriving Humanities culture in Nigeria.
